Just submitted my final portfolio and did my presentation! Now just gotta pray everything’s okay grade-wise and then impatiently wait for graduation in 2 weeks. 🙂 Btw, I finally got an e-mail from the school district saying that I would be getting an invite to the job fair!

To celebrate, I rushed over to Joanns (like a 5min drive from the campus) after the presentations were over, and bought a couple of goodies. Namely, enough yarn to finish the pink afghan, TLC Essentials in Sandstone (like a butterscotch color) to try another FBB, and a skein of Fisherman’s wool yarn. I picked up some kool-aid in cherry and orange (:D!) and headed home.

So…either tonight or tomorrow I’ll try dying my own wool.. 😀 Can’t wait.

Yay, done! This has been a WIP for a couple weeks, doing one semicircle here, 1 square there.. And finally everything’s sewn together, stuffed, and done. I added in the flower after seeing a wonderfully done pillow on the ville with a flower in the center.. Was a nice lil touch.

Yarns used were Simply Soft in cream (It’s my first stuffed crochet project, and I was afraid of the polyfill showing through if I used another color)..Simply Soft in green, Perfect Match in lavender, and some old baby yarn in yellow. I’m kinda happy about the yellow center of the flower, I just made that up on my own to get rid of the hole in the center of the flower.

The heart pillow pattern came from CrochetMe
The flower’s from Dot’s Website
And the leaves from CrochetDoilies

I’ve been finding little bits of time to get my new WIP done (not the afghan, lol). It should be completed either tonight or sometime tomorrow 😀 Can’t wait to get it done.

On Friday, when I’m at the uni, I’ll be making a short stop to Joanns (Ok, wait, maybe a longer stop. It’s hard to pull oneself out of that place) to pick up a couple more skeins for the afghan. It’s a slight pain in the butt to have the afghan yarn available at a Joann’s about 1 hour away, but oh well.

While working on this presentation, my mind keeps slipping to the weekend and…yes, freedom. No more portfolio, no big presentation, no lesson plans.. I’m kinda eyeing that striped SWS bag (pic below) to finish, as well as making an attempt at this shrug, and yes the pink afghan that’s been pushed aside.

Ok, back to work.. See you!

Tan Fat Bottom Bag April 5, 2007

Okay. I just finished this last night at midnight. This bag was a present for my cooperating teacher, who took me in as an intern and let me do a full-takeover of her class. The bag took about 3 days to do, done in Caron Perfect Match in Lace.

I gave it to her at the end of the day, during the class’s spring party and the food/drinks were already distributed. She absolutely loved it, and went around showing the bag and the lining to the students, lol.

I’m sooooo proud of this, it’s my first fat bottom bag as well as first time lining something. It was a super-easy and fast pattern. The only part I hated was the first couple rows of the handle flaps, since I hate decreasing with a passion. But, damn, as I was finishing it up, part of me wanted to keep it. Oh well, haha, my cooperating teacher really deserved it. 🙂

Don’t you hate that when you’re finally able to finish a project, the seasons change and you don’t feel right actually using the item? I did this over my winter break, but since the internship started, I haven’t gotten around to finishing this and felting it. Now it’s spring, and this bag’s got dark colors, and….well, I’ll finish it but the bag will collect dust for awhile. ;(

Well, this was done in Patons SWS in Natural Earth, and woooow I love the feel of this stuff, but the yarn’s just kinda expensive. I finally got the last skein, and sure it’s another dye lot, but the only thing left to crochet is the handles.

Pattern was found at Christina’s Crochet Haven

It’s not a shower puff, but actually a flower, which the second picture is trying to show. Another stash busting project. The pattern came from here.

This was made using leftovers from my still uncompleted pink afghan project, which I took a break from to conquer smaller crocheted items to get that ‘wow, I got something DONE’ feeling. This little bag currently resides on my bedroom doorknob, holding various small things.
The pattern comes from Dot’s website.

Teaser
So I started this back in October, but this picture is here because its the only one I have of my current WIP. Right now, the afghan is a little over 4′ long. I’m hoping to add another foot or two to it, and perhaps experiment with some sort of edging, before giving it the FO title.

Some other things I’ve been considering…
Short & Sweet – Out of the Stitch ‘n Bitch Happy Hooker book, which Mum got me for Christmas. Hoping to do this in lavender.
Fat Bottom Bag – Another Happy Hooker project, and kinda addicting from what I heard.. )

And if my skills get better, down the road these projects would be cool to try..
White Shell Tunic Top – Pattern doesn’t say, but I betcha this is sports weight yarn, so I’d have to adjust to using thinner yarns. ;X But geez, what a beautiful top.
Daisy Skirt – Again, another sports weight project. But it’s pure prettyness.
